The editorial seats
Long-form books are produced through four distinct editorial seats:
- Spine Keeper: Guards plot structure and chapter beats against the outline.
- Voice Keeper: Enforces POV consistency and eliminates AI-slop phrasing (
excellence-book-writing). - Continuity Reader (
/canon-check): Audits every character, place, and Gate reference againstCANON_LOCKED.md. - Craft Lead: Reviews pacing, dialogue, and chapter hooks before a chapter leaves draft status.
Handoffs & the draft veto rule
Each seat passes a concrete file artifact — the beat map, the scene draft, and the continuity memo — rather than chat summaries. Nothing ships while a chapter carries an open continuity or voice veto.
